My Native Style Knife

Description

Most of my mediums when it comes to my art and my projects consist,s of feathers, fabric, bone, steel, wood, and other things.

But stone for some reason is not one of them and that is why when I made this knife I used steel for the blade.

I started out with a plain piece of steel and grounded out the main shape of the blade then made the edge on it.

When all that was done I heated the blade till it was red hot then dipped it into some old lawnmower oil and let it cool down.

I then took it out and carved the handle out of some hickory wood I had laying around.

Then tied the blade to the handle with some sinew.

i must warn you, the blade is probably not consistantly tempered if you just stuck it in the oil and let it cool. it will be as hard as a rock (mostly) but wont have any flexibility. it tip is likly to snap off if you use this.

also, are you refering to native americans?
